If you find yourself tasked with cleaning a moldy surface, you have a few options that are likely already in your home. The simplest option is a mixture of detergent and warm water. This will not kill the mold, but it can completely remove it from nonporous surfaces.
If your goal is to kill the mold and prevent future mold growth, you cannot go wrong with baking soda. This option is harmless and easy, and eliminates the odors as well:
- Mix a quarter of a tablespoon of sodium bicarbonate to roughly one bottle of water. Consider filling a spray bottle with the solution.
- Spray the surface and wipe it clean.
- Rinse the surface after wiping the mold away.
- Repeat a few times for the best results.
You can mix in a little vinegar to make this solution more effective.
